GOD’S GREATEST GIFT

This Christmas season I watched, as I do every year, the Hollywood classic, It’s A Wonderful Life.  James Stewart plays the long-suffering and much beleaguered George Bailey, who contemplates throwing away what Clarence, the angel, calls “God’s greatest gift.”  His life.

It made me wonder, not for the first time, if life is really God’s greatest gift.  Certainly it is his most basic gift, but isn’t the gift of his son, Jesus Christ, even greater?  What good is life without reconciliation and fellowship with God, which only comes through Jesus?  And yet, I believe that God has given us a gift even greater than life and the sacrifice of his son.  He has given us Truth, without which, life, even in fellowship with the Lord of Creation, is a pointless exercise.

Truth is the foundation of trust, and trust is the foundation of love.  We have all felt the pain of discovering that someone we trusted has lied to us.  That betrayal is fatal to most relationships, and even those that survive can never be the same.  The complaint heard most often in divorce courts is not that someone drinks, or has a bad temper, but that one of them Lied.

On a larger scale, America’s current political upheaval is based less on the unwelcome laws and regulations being forced upon us by our leaders, than on the fact that we have discovered that they have, as individuals and as a group, been systematically lying to us for years.  The howl of indignation from the Tea Party crowd is not so much an outcry against high taxes, as it is against leaders who have given a promise to uphold the Constitution and represent their constituents, and whose words have been discovered to be bald-faced lies.

In contrast, God speaks nothing but truth to us.  Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not human, that he should lie…”  Throughout the Bible he tells us the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.  John 17:17 says, “Thy word is truth.”  And what’s more, God commands his people to tell the truth.  The ninth Commandment demands that we not bear false witness.  Much of his anger throughout the Old Testament is directed against leaders who use lies and false evidence to mislead his people.

If, then, truth is the way by which we can know and trust God, and learn to trust and love one another, what does that say about Islam?  A basic tenet of Islam is Taquia; in effect, permission from God to lie or hide the truth in order to advance the cause of Islam.  If God, or his prophet, is comfortable using “Holy Lies” to coerce people who have not yet reached the level of spiritual excellence entitling them to the truth, how can we trust him about anything?  If, knowing that lies are permissible when expedient, God says to me, “You are worthy, so I will tell you the truth,” how can I know that he really feels I am worthy and so his words are really the truth?

In this case, God becomes untrustworthy, and by extension, his messengers are untrustworthy.  Life becomes a dangerous dance, governed by unknowable rules and watched over by a capricious Lord.  Insanity is the inevitable result.  And what is more evident of insanity than the murder and maiming of children, or the desire to end one’s own life in an orgy of the blood of innocents?

Allah, the god of Islam, says that lies are permissible, even required, in order to advance his cause.  But our God, the God of Heaven, abhors lies.  The Creator of Heaven and Earth reaches out to us with an open heart that can be trusted under any circumstances.

He needs no lies to call his children to his side.  He tempts us to draw near to him by offering his greatest gift:  The truth.

Woman in suspected ‘honor killing’ dies

by Dustin Gardiner
The Arizona RepublicA 20-year-old Peoria woman has died of injuries sustained in what prosecutors are calling an “honor killing.”

Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, of Glendale, is accused of running over his daughter, Noor Almaleki, and another woman in his Jeep Cherokee because he was infuriated with his daughter for becoming “too Westernized.”

Noor Almaleki died Monday of injuries she received during the Oct. 20 attack.

Peoria police said charges against Almaleki, who is in a Maricopa County jail on two counts of aggravated assault, will be upgraded, though a spokesman wasn’t sure what the exact charges would be.

Social experts say honor killings are an accepted practice in Iraqi tribal society, where family members feel they must kill a woman who shames them by not adhering to traditional Muslim or Iraqi values.

Family members said Almaleki was outraged after his daughter married a man in Iraq but returned to the Valley to live with a boyfriend and his mother in Surprise. The other victim, 43-year-old Amal Edan Khalaf, is apparently the boyfriend’s mother.

Police said Almaleki fled the country after the attack, driving to Mexico and later taking a plane to London. He was detained by British authorities and extradited to Atlanta last week.

Speaking before a Maricopa County judge over the weekend, state prosecutor Stephanie Low said Almaleki has admitted purposefully running down his daughter.

“By his own admission, this was an intentional act and the reason was that his daughter had brought shame on him and his family,” Low said. “This was an attempt at an honor killing.”

Almaleki did not address the accusations and spoke only to ask the judge about getting a court-appointed attorney.

Low said additional family members are suspected of assisting Almaleki in his escape.

“We can’t be naive and ignore that there’s a cultural aspect to this and there may be people who would support him, including his family, but also others who share his beliefs,” she said.

Citing Almaleki’s earlier flight, Low asked the judge to take special precautions to prevent him from running again. Bail was set at $5 million.

Calls to Almaleki’s family members were not returned Monday.

my response:

In the continuous 48 states there have been more than two dozen known “honor killings” since 1990. About half of the suspects left the US before they could be arrested and questioned.
#1. If a Muslim nation will not agree to extradition of murder suspects in cases like this, then immigration from that country must be stopped.
#2. No government department be it local, state, or federal will ever have the brains or the balls to create what is needed to help American Muslim women escape abuse. This is where the local churches can provide help. Muslim women and girls need support and shelter from specialists trained in the unique set of circumstances that these refugees have to face. They need the support that will keep them from returning to the dangerous environment that nearly killed them.
If the USA becomes known for our ability to stop Islamic brutality then fewer Muslims will want to live here. As long as this is focused on the human rights of the victims of Sharia we can get it done without being slandered by the leftist media. BR

Minneapolis officer accused of assaulting his wife

January 21, 2011 StarTribune

DAVID CHANEN

A Minneapolis police officer was charged with felony assault Friday, accused of hitting his wife in the face with a gun and threatening to kill her.

Mukhtar Abdulkadir, 36, of Andover was quarreling with his wife Wednesday before bedtime, according a criminal complaint filed in Anoka County District Court. The next morning, he threw her on the couch and punched her in the ribs, the complaint said. As she was screaming, he put a pillow over her head, according to the document.

With his 3-year-old child yelling at him to stop, Abdulkadir grabbed a handgun from a closet and hit his wife in the face with the butt end, the charges said. She didn’t seek medical treatment.

She went to her parents’ house. When she returned home, he threatened to kill her, the complaint said. She told police he had been violent with her in the past and had threatened to kill her, the complaint said.

“Anytime there is a domestic assault with aweapon and children are present, it’s an immense public safety concern,” said assistant Anoka County attorney C. Ryan Tennison.

Abdulkadir told police his wife hit herself and she assaulted him. On Friday, she came to the county attorney’s office and recanted her story, saying she lied and wasn’t sure how she was injured, the complaint said. She had visible injuries consistent with her earlier disclosure, the complaint said.

It’s not unusual for an abuse victim to recant, said Tennison. In this case, she had earlier made very specific disclosures that were corroborated, he said. An investigator will follow up with Abdulkadir’s wife on Monday.

Abdulkadir was charged with felony second-degree assault, terroristic threats and domestic assault. The Minneapolis Police Department’s internal affairs unit is investigating.

my response:

NO local government will ever take the initiative to offer special counseling for Muslim women who are battered or who escape murder at the hands of their husbands. Most Muslim wives who report abuse only report it once and most go back to the abusive husband or family because they feel as if they have no place else to go. Many die soon after returning.

“Good women are obedient….As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34

This is clearly a situation where the local churches can do something that government will not do. This is clearly a situation where there is a need and where action will save lives.  BR

The Jihad of the Cradle

|Posted by Roland Shirk on January 21, 2011 9:40 PM

As those who have read me here before will remember, I think that the first task for Western countries threatened by jihad and Islamic expansionism is to get immigration under control. Islam is not a problem in Europe because Islamic Billy Grahams or Francis Xaviers arrived in Paris, London, and Copenhagen, and won millions of native-born Europeans over to the faith of Muhammad by their native eloquence and its intrinsic appeal. Sure, there are converts every now and then, and they are often the most violent jihadis whom we face; the fervor of recent converts compared to cradle believers is one feature that probably crosses all religious boundaries. As Robert Spencer said in a talk I was privileged to hear, people who have spent much of their lives listening to the violent rhetoric of the Qur’an, and the urgings of imams, are often inured to it–just as Christians can become jaded at their own religion’s mysteries. But those who have experienced some kind of emptiness in their lives, who find it suddenly filled by an-all encompassing worldview, are often more likely to take its claims to heart, and act on its more extreme demands.

That much helps explain the behavior of traitors like Adam Gadahn and shoe-bomber Richard Reid, not to mention the otherwise unmarriageable British women who wed themselves to Pakistani zealots. But there is no Islamic Paul of Tarsus, traveling Europe and America attracting thousands of converts to the flock. The most common source of Muslim converts in America, from what I have seen, is prison evangelism–a dangerous phenomenon in itself, but statistically insignificant. No, the problem with Islam is immigration, and much of the problem with immigration is Islam. Past politicians in Western Europe, motivated by post-colonial guilt, the lure of cheap labor, and a post-Marxist hatred for organically functioning societies, imported millions of highly fertile Muslims in the 1960s and 70s, and the floodgates are still mostly open. Combine this fact with low Western fertility, massive Saudi funding for extremist (that is, orthodox) catechesis on Islam and jihad, and one has paved the way for the success of the conquest strategy warned of by Sam Solomon & Elias Al Maqdisi in Modern Day Trojan Horse: The Islamic Doctrine of Immigration. In case you missed my previous column on this important new book (which I’m reading now and will review at length later this month), its thesis is this: Islam expands primarily by emigration, and only secondarily by conquest. The hijra itself, the authors point out, was an act of emigration, and the duty to emigrate and spread Islam is fundamental to that faith:

I charge you with five of what Allah has charged me with: to assemble, to listen, to obey, to immigrate and to wage Jihad for the sake of Allah. …So Hijra or migration is binding on all Muslims for numerous reasons; the most important being that migration is preparatory to jihad with an aim and objective of securing victory for Islam and Muslims either in another country or generally as a community.

Seeing how helpless the West has left itself to this concrete, clearly defined strategy on the part of Islamic leaders to encourage their flocks to flood the West–not that most Muslim migrants have this conscious intention, but that is irrelevant–I am flabbergasted at how little attention anti-jihadists pay to blocking this mass colonization. Just as the English and French fought for control of North America by trying to encourage emigration of their nationals to their colonies, so Islamic leaders today extend their influence in wealthy, prosperous countries (two of which, Britain and France, have nuclear arsenals) by sending forth strong backs and fertile wombs, to enact the “revenge of the cradle.” Compared to Islamic immigration, terrorism itself is an ugly distraction. The real jihad is the stealth jihad, and it happens in bedrooms and nurseries. If we don’t want to end up like the Cherokees or the Hurons, we’d better do something about it.

I’m reminded of an old Ronald Reagan campaign quote: “There’s already an arms race on, but only one side is running.” We have seen the massive success of this Islamic strategy, but we’re hardly pushing back. It is time we started. But we have to fight smart.

It’s just a fact that we will not be able, in any Western country I can think of, to muster the candor to selectively exclude Muslims from entering our countries. Given that this is true, it’s the duty of every civilizational patriot to get involved in reducing the total numbers of migrants into our countries–large percentages of whom are going to be Muslims. Even if on every other ground one favored open borders, huge population growth, cheap labor, and multiculturalist diversity, one would have to in the current situation put those considerations aside and join the immigration restrictionist movement. There is already strong and broad-based support from a majority of Americans to reduce legal immigration totals and crack down on illegal entrants. We need not climb the precipitous learning curve it often takes well-meaning people to see that Islam is inherently intolerant; opponents of jihad can piggyback on the strong, aggressive lobbying efforts of existing groups that oppose mass immigration for a wide variety of non-racial reasons. The best group I know of is NumbersUsa, which emphasizes the economic and environmental costs of mass migration, gathering support from all across the political spectrum. That group has a highly effective system that alerts the general public about upcoming votes in Congress on immigration issues, and an automated system for flooding congressional offices with faxes and phone calls opposing bad legislation. Please, if you care about this issue, visit their website, and register so you can be alerted and take action. Read the reports of the Center for Immigration Studies, an academically reputable thinktank based in D.C. that produces airtight policy papers urging lower migration totals, and a shift away from policies (like the degrading and suicidal visa lottery) that privilege poor countries with large extended families (i.e., most Muslim countries) over Western Europe and Japan. In your own mind, remember that the cause of stopping Islam can only be achieved by stopping Muslims. We aren’t threatened by Islam’s crude and repulsive doctrines; ideas can’t kill us, or vote in sharia laws. Only people can. So the people are the problem. No one wants to harm Muslims, sterilize them, or deport those who are legally present in our societies. But we have the perfect right to say to future migrants: “Enough!”

The more committed you are to fighting jihad, the more you should put energy into passing laws that keep out jihadists. It might take 10,000 peaceful Muslims living in a given city to produce a single terrorist. But we have imported, and are still importing, those tens of thousands. Their imams are radicalizing them, and our engines of cultural assimilation broke down 30 years ago. There is no other way to keep our societies safe, and give the West the breathing room it needs to raise its birth rate again to a sustainable level of self-replacement. Our civilization, which brought the world individual liberty, the extraordinarily open societies we all enjoy, and the broad tolerance that Ibn Warraq lovingly details in Defending the West, deserves at least this chance to revive itself. It doesn’t deserve to be drowned by inhuman ideas carried in by a human wave.

my response:

Not only must we protect ourselves by limiting or better yet stopping the immigration of Muslims into the USA, we must develop a culture of loving intolerance to this cult of ritualized murder. Shelters for battered Muslim wives will have to specialize in the factors that cause and venerate abuse in Muslim households.  Safe places for former Muslims to live in while adjusting to a new life of individual free will and tolerance of others must be provided.  Christianity must extend itself to become a safety net for those who see the light and renounce Islamic violence and intimidation. Leaders of the American Christian and Jewish communities must publicly condemn Islam and give specific examples of its evil to all who will listen.

Any pretence of moral equivalence MUST be swept out of Western Civilization’s thought process. Islam is evil and nothing can be done to change that fact.

If we do not actively take part in the tearing down of American Islam then it is just a matter of time before those who are already here overrun our population.

Quebec immigration consultant arrested in fraud ring

Stewart Bell, National Post · Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011

TORONTO — The RCMP has arrested a Quebec immigration consultant accused of providing Canadian citizenship documents to hundreds of people in the Middle East so they could collect benefits and tax refunds from Ottawa.

Ahmad El-Akhal, 62, was arrested Thursday morning following a 2-1/2-year investigation by the RCMP’s Immigration and Passport and Commercial Crimes sections. His wife was also arrested as well as a suspected accomplice in Mississauga.

The alleged fraud ring is accused of securing immigrant status and citizenship for more than 300 residents of Lebanon and other Middle East countries and then helping them bilk the Canadian government of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“Once they received documents this guy would fill out the tax returns and documents to get benefits back in the names of these people,” said RCMP Sgt. Marc LaPorte. “They were getting tax refunds, Goods and Services Tax rebates, child credit tax benefits, so the whole gamut.”

Mr. El-Akhal, who lives in L’ile-Bizard, Que., has been charged with 58 counts including forgery and fraud. His wife Tahani Mohamad Hassan El-Akhal, 53, was charged with possession of proceeds obtained by crime in the amount of $155,000.

Also charged was Mississauga resident Hassan Ali Saif, 44, who faces three charges under the Citizenship Act. “He was the leasor of some of the residences. And also he forged lease agreements and created mail addresses for these people. He actually collected the mail and gathered the information and sent it back to Montreal,” Sgt. LaPorte said.

All three are to appear in court in Brampton on Friday.

The alleged crimes go back as far as 1999. The investigation began in 2008 after Citizenship and Immigration Canada noticed that 320 permanent residence applicants had given the same 29 home addresses in Canada.

The RCMP traced 260 of the applications and found they were all linked to Mr. El-Akhal. None of those who secured citizenship and government benefits through Mr. El-Akhal actually lived in Canada.

“Basically, this individual passed himself off as an immigration consultant and assisted these people in obtaining permanent resident status and submitted the applications for them,” said Sgt. LaPorte, the RCMP spokesman for Ontario.

The Canada Revenue Agency was also involved.

“The RCMP alleges that several hundred foreign nationals not residing in Canada used fraudulent means to obtain Canadian Citizenship and Canadian travel documents,” the RCMP said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

“In addition, it is alleged that false Income Tax returns were filed for individuals, allowing them to receive improperly benefits and tax refunds from the Canada Revenue Agency of approximately $500,000.”

my response:

Hundreds of thousands of Muslims here in the USA are collecting benefits illegally because of our lack of security in the welfare system. Since Muslims are obligated to lie for the benefit of Islam they have no compunction about making false claims on government paperwork. This means that many of the domestic plots to destroy our free society are being funded by our own tax dollars. BR

RCMP probe report saying Canadians training with al-Qaida in Pakistan for jihad

By: The Canadian Press Posted: 01/14/2011 9:54 PM

TORONTO – The RCMP is probing an online news report that says a group of Canadian militants is training for jihad in Pakistani al-Qaida camps.

Hong Kong-based Asia Times Online cites “well-placed Taliban sources” saying the terrorist group is training a number of Western Caucasians — Canadians in particular— for attacks in Canada.

Assistant RCMP commissioner Gilles Michaud told the Canadian Press Friday that the Mounties and their security and intelligence partners were assessing the information in the report for its “credibility and reliability.”

Michaud said the RCMP would take “appropriate action” according to the results of that assessment, which he added was being carried out as quickly as possible.

In the report, a militant from Pakistan’s North Waziristan region claims 12 Canadians went to Afghanistan last February and received basic jihadi training.

Arif Wazir says the Canadians were sent to Pakistan in November for “special courses” that included the use of sophisticated weapons and how to connect with local smuggling networks in North America.

The Asia Times report goes on to quote Wazir saying the Canadians will eventually return home to execute al-Qaida’s plan to target Canada’s big cities.

The article says the Canadians joined an Egyptian militant organization, Jihad al-Islami, which helped them get to Afghanistan in the first place.

It adds that other Westerners from the U.S., Britain and Germany, are also being trained for jihad in North Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan.

The report was written by the site’s Pakistan bureau chief, Syed Saleem Shahzad, and a tribal affairs special correspondent Tahir Ali.

Shahzad is also the author of an upcoming book called “Inside Al-Qaeda and the Taliban 9/11 and Beyond.

In early October western officials said they were investigating a terror plot to carry out Mumbai-style shooting rampages or other attacks in Britain, France and Germany.

A Pakistani intelligence official said a number of Germans and British militants were involved, but the warnings of possible imminent attacks proved a false alarm.

A spokeswoman for Germany’s Federal Criminal Police office said in October there was “concrete evidence” that 70 German citizens had undergone terror training in Pakistan’s lawless border region and that about a third of the militants had returned to Germany.

Rolf Tophoven, director of the Germany-based Institute for Terrorism Research and Security Policy, recently said he had seen estimates that “between 30 and 40 hardcore terrorists” from Germany are currently in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border region.

A report released in October by George Washington University’s Homeland Security Policy Institute and the Swedish National Defence College’s Center for Asymmetric Threat Studies warned that radicalized Westerners who easily travel around the world represent a growing terrorism threat.

And the report urged the U.S. and its European allies to work together to confront this new threat.

Soros Funded Domestic Terrorism in Churches

Soros-Funded Group’s Political Director Calls for Subversive Activity During Christmas Masses

Posted By Lisa Graas On December 7, 2010 @ 4:00 pm In

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone. — Isaiah 9:1

This verse from Scripture will be read at Midnight Mass, December 25, in Catholic churches across America. For radicals in the pews, however, the light focused on will be the light coming from their smartphone screens as they communicate with each other and report to Aniello Alioto, political director of the George Soros-funded Progress Now, any “hostile activity” in the form of priests explaining Catholic teaching on the family and marriage.

George Soros’ Counterfeit Catholicism is decidedly no longer limited to public political discourse. Now reaching directly into Catholic parishes, the radical subversion of the Catholic Church holds nothing sacred. Not even Christmas Mass.
Thomas Peters of Catholic Vote first reported about a letter sent by Aniello Alioto to members of Catholics for Equality, a group that seeks to cause division in the Catholic Church here in America on issues related to  homosexuality and marriage.

Let’s be clear what Alioto is saying: their organization plans to encourage its membership during Christmas to bring their phones to Church and to “report” from the pew whenever a priest or bishop dares to preach about the family or issues related to marriage, and to conduct fundraising in our sacred spaces.

It’s hard to imagine a more intrusive attempt to undermine the freedom of Catholic parishes and pastors to preach what the Church teaches to Catholics who are already constantly maligned outside of Mass about their views. Catholics for Equality has decided to take their fight against the Church into the very heart of our sacred worship spaces.

Besides announcing new smartphone apps designed to help with this subversion, Alioto’s letter claims that activists “don’t need the consent of our hierarchy” to behave in this manner at Mass. This could not be further from the truth. According to Canon Law, specifically Canon 528, Section 2, any priest, “under the authority of the diocesan Bishop” is within his rights to remove from the church building anyone who causes distraction from the “devout celebration of the sacraments.”

The parish priest is to take care that the blessed Eucharist is the centre of the parish assembly of the faithful. He is to strive to ensure that the faithful are nourished by the devout celebration of the sacraments, and in particular that they frequently approach the sacraments of the blessed Eucharist and penance. He is to strive to lead them to prayer, including prayer in their families, and to take a live and active part in the sacred liturgy. Under the authority of the diocesan Bishop, the parish priest must direct this liturgy in his own parish, and he is bound to be on guard against abuses.

Anyone engaged in activity that takes the focus away from the “devout celebration of the sacraments” may be removed from the church. Catholic priests and bishops would do well to be on guard for the use of cell phones during Mass, but particularly during Christmas Masses in light of this news.

If you are Catholic, please consider forwarding this article to your priest and to your bishop so that they can be aware of the danger.

AWSG is ready to help churches in danger of these attacks. We can give you the control to block unwanted cell phone calls and texting while not disturbing business or residential neighbors. Please contact us at:  bret@awsg.us  for more information.

Pak: Islamic Body Oppose Repeal of Blasphemy Laws

OutlookIndia.com   Islamabad | Dec 19, 2010

Pakistan’s top Islamic body has opposed the repeal of the controversial blasphemy laws that has been used by a court to sentence a Christian woman to death, which has sparked an outrage in the country and abroad.

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Pakistan’s top constitutional advisory body on Islamic injunctions, has opposed the repeal of blasphemy laws, which were promulgated by former military dictator Zia-ul Haq in the 1980s.

A death sentence by a lower court in Punjab to a 45-year-old Christian woman, Asiya Bibi, for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed has triggered a debate on the need to repeal or amend the blasphemy laws.

An official report on Asiya Bibi’s case submitted to President Asif Ali Zardari said she had been framed in the case.

Last week, a doctor in southern Sindh province was arrested on a charge of blasphemy after he threw the business card of a pharmaceutical representative into a dustbin.

On a reference sent by the federal government, CII has supported retaining the capital punishment for offenders of blasphemy laws. In its proposal, however, it has recommended procedural amendments so as to stop the abuse of the controversial laws, The Express Tribune newspaper reported today.

These recommendations have been sent to the government by the CII, the Pakistani daily said citing a source in the federal ministry of law.

“The government should not allow anyone to misuse the blasphemy Law and it should take all appropriate measures whether administrative, procedural or legislative to stop incidents of mishandling the blasphemy Law,” the daily quoted the CII as saying in its recommendations.

Minority communities and rights groups have said that the law has been misused to falsely implicate non-Muslims in blasphemy cases.

The police and law enforcement agencies have charged 1,274 people with offences under the blasphemy laws from 1986 to 2010. Sixty per cent of the people charged were non-Muslims. Several of the accused were murdered according to media reports, the report said.

There is growing criticism by global human rights organisations against the alleged misuse of the laws. Several Pakistani civil liberties associations have also opposed the laws on account of the inherent discrimination against non-Muslims and minorities.

United States and the United Kingdom have called for their repeal, describing it as anti-Christian. The case Asiya Bibi, a mother of five children, has drawn appeals from Pope Benedict XVI and international human rights groups to free her.

However, radical Islamist groups and banned terror outfits like the LeT-linked JuD have openly opposed changes in the blasphemy laws. The leaders of the main religious parties have vowed to resist any move to amend the blasphemy law.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called for a strike across the country on December 31 to oppose moves to change the law.

In Peshawar, hardline cleric Maulana Yousaf Qureshi of a 17th century mosque offered a reward of Rs 5 lakhs to any person who killed Asiya Bibi.

How Islamic Supremacism Is Overwhelming Democracy, Robert Spencer reviews: Radical State: How Jihad Is Winning Over Democracy In the West , by Abigail R. Esman

Posted By Robert Spencer On December 22, 2010 @ 12:35 am In FrontPage

After 9/11, you may recall, the United States was going to bring democracy to the Islamic world. Nine years later, we have Sharia Constitutions in both Iraq and Afghanistan. A Shi’ite client of the Iranian mullahs rules shakily in Iraq, while in Afghanistan the U.S.-backed president is increasingly hostile to America and even threatens to join the Taliban that he was supposed to be fighting against.

But that isn’t even the worst of it. Paradoxically, instead of bringing democracy to the Islamic world, the years since 9/11 have seen only success after success in Islamic supremacist efforts to undermine democracy in the West. Bending over backwards not to appear “anti-Muslim” in their anti-terror efforts, the U.S. and Western Europe have allowed in large numbers of Muslim immigrants who hold to a radically undemocratic political ideology, one that is rooted in Islamic texts and teachings and thus is not susceptible to negotiation, compromise, or the gentle pressure of “assimilation.”

It has all happened quite quickly, and yet gradually enough to have generally escaped the notice of those who have been living through it. Nonetheless, life in Western societies has already been utterly transformed, and more changes – for the worse – are certain to come. In the elegiac, insightful and sweeping new book Radical State: How Jihad Is Winning Over Democracy In the West [1], the American expatriate Abigail R. Esman, who now lives in the Netherlands, surveys the damage.

It’s a profoundly moving, personal account of how the stealth jihad has advanced in the Netherlands over the last decade and more, written by someone who was in the center of it all. Esman knew Theo van Gogh, murdered by Islamic jihadist Mohammed Bouyeri in 2004 for his film Submission about the plight of Muslim women, and was close friends with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the outspoken Somali ex-Muslim who served for a time in the Dutch Parliament and who collaborated with van Gogh on Submission, before death threats led her to flee the country. She watched as Dutch politician Pim Fortuyn rose to international prominence for his opposition to unrestricted Muslim immigration and the Islamization of the Netherlands – and then was murdered by a Dutchman who said he did it out of sympathy for the nation’s Muslims. Esman recalls: “There were those – and I was one of them – who thought Fortuyn was little more than a pretender, a narcissist with a big mouth and glib tongue who would quickly be exposed and then forgotten. We were the most wrong of all.”

Esman details the horror of the murder of van Gogh, the bloody triumphalist Islamic boasts of his murderer, the supine reaction of Dutch authorities, and the indifference of self-proclaimed moderate Muslims. Noting their absence at a November 2005 memorial for van Gogh attended by the Dutch prime minister and the mayor of Amsterdam, she writes: “Muslim moderates are part of ‘us,’ not ‘them.’ Yet when they should have been there, just to make that simple statement, to present that one gesture of solidarity, they were not. And that they weren’t makes me consider, on second thought, that maybe they aren’t quite with us, after all.”

But America has managed to assimilate its Muslim population much more successfully, hasn’t it? After surveying a number of jihad terror plots perpetrated by both Muslim immigrants and homegrown converts to Islam, Esman concludes that that bit of conventional wisdom, like so much else in the popular understanding of the jihad terror threat, is simply wrong. Our freedoms are being eroded here no less unmistakably than they are being eroded in Europe. The consequences of the folly of our government and law enforcement officials may be less obvious to the general public than it is in Europe, but in the age of Obama that is rapidly changing.

So what is to be done? Must we choose between becoming an Islamic state or a totalitarian state imposed in the name of “security”? Esman contends that it is not too late to save our free societies, if we firmly reject the suicidal philosophy of multiculturalism and take other steps she outlines in Radical State (including a few offered by me). Radical State is a unique and powerful book because it brings to vivid life the human cost of the ongoing Islamization of Europe. Already the massive importation of Islamic supremacists with nothing but contempt for European civilization and an intention to replace it with Sharia at the earliest opportunity has been a catastrophe of incalculable proportions for European societies.

Abigail Esman has lived through the worst of it, or the worst so far, and shows all the large and small ways in which our lives, our joys, our freedoms, are diminished. If she is heeded now, it may not be too late to salvage at least some of what has made us so free and so alive for so long.

But that is a big “if.”

Is Pakistan Looking The Other Way On U.S. Drone Strikes?

— Gul Ayaz

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty December 17, 2010

Authorities in Pakistan claim two U.S. missile strikes have killed dozens of suspected militants in the Khyber tribal agency, close to the Afghan-Pakistani border.

The nearly simultaneous attacks targeted militants’ hideout in the mountanous Tirrah region of the tribal district. Authorities say the missiles were fired from U.S. predator drones, killing seven militants in the first strike. A second attack reprotedly killed three more militants.

In an exclusive interview with RFE/RL’s Radio Mashaal, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit said there had been serious disagreements between Pakistan and the United States regarding drone attacks.

Responding to a question about drone attacks in Khyber Agency, Basit said, “So far, as the term of ‘safe haven’ is concerned, I don’t agree with that. Terrorism is an international issue and it should be dealt with internationally. This is not the responsibility of single country, all the countries should work together to curb the menace of terrorism.

“Yes, if there are shortcomings or gaps on the part of Pakistan, at the same time [the] international community also lacks the capacity to combat terrorism effectively. Pakistan sacrificed a lot and the sacrifices continue. The operation in Waziristan is a serious issue and we need the confidence of our people before launching it.”

U.S. drone attacks are very controversial in Pakistan — where, ofiicially, the government considers them an infringement of Pakistan’s sovereignty. Some analysts believe, however, that Pakistan is exploiting the issue for its own strategic interests.

Pakistani journalist Rahimullah Yousafzai believes Pakistan provides ground intelligence to the U.S. military about the whereabouts of militants and then the U.S. drones target them.

“I suspect Pakistan provides assistance for these attacks,” Yousafzai told me. “It is possible for Pakistan to identify targets who are the enemies of the country. As reports show, there is a drone attack in Tirrha that killed Taliban from Swat and Lashkar-e Islam — they are the Taliban who are fighting against Pakistan rather than the U.S. They are a lesser danger for the U.S., but a bigger danger for Pakistan.

“It is possible that in such attacks Pakistani intellgence directly or indirectly supports the United States.”

my response:

There is no way in hell that Pakistani intelligence is NOT providing information on US drone targets. We are shooting in the dark right now with our drones because we have little good information on who is doing what in the region. Without troops on the ground capturing and interrogating terrorists all we have is a guessing game as to who is an enemy of the US and who is just a political rival of the Pakistan government.

The Obama White House is too timid to go after terrorists by putting troops on the ground where they are most needed. Even if we did capture a prime information source what could we do with him? We know that Obama won’t let him go to Gitmo. We know that we can not use enhanced interrogation techniques on him. Obama’s ability to fight this war has been hamstrung by his campaign rhetoric.

If the White House changes hands after 2012 expect Obama’s supporters to jump all over the new administration for its inhumane “murder from the sky” if the same drones are used in the same way as they are being used right now.

Anti-US Taliban forces are in many cases still allies of the Islamic radicals who run Pakistan’s military and intelligence services. So just who are we actually killing with all of these drone strikes and how is it helping our cause?

Our chances of a real victory were slim to none when we invaded Afghanistan. Now that the war has been Obamafied to the extent that it has been, our hopes of anything less that a protracted defeat hinge on one question. Do we go nuclear or not? BR
